ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY
David was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1962. His formal art education includes a Fine Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, study at the Exeter College of Art in England, and at the Art Students League in New York.
After studying and apprenticing with several of the world's most prominent portrait painters while in New York, he began his professional career taking portrait commissions, and continues to do so.
During Plein air painting trips to Europe his subject matter expanded into landscape and figurative painting. Success in these genres as well soon followed in shows in London, where he secured an exhibit of his work walking into a prestigious gallery and securing a show on the spot.
He has since exhibited extensively throughout the United States, including at one-man galleries in Carmel, CA, Santa Fe, NM, and Newport, RI.
The artist's original paintings are in major private or public collections in America, Africa, Asia, Europe and Australia, including the Sports Museum of New England.
Over twenty-five thousand reproductions of the artist's landscape and figurative work are in collections worldwide, including the Sports Museum of New England.
His artwork has appeared in House Beautiful, as set pieces in films and television, and as book covers. David's portrait work with families was awarded Best In Rhode Island by RI Magazine. His sports paintings where exhibited at Super Bowl 50.
Among many distinctions, he is an award winner in painting at the prestigious Copley Society in Boston, and has been honored as the featured artist for the Boston Pops annual concert on Cape Cod.
David Schock maintains his studio in Rhode Island, where he lives with his wife and son. The latest original paintings from the artist's studio can currently be seen at the One-Man gallery of his artwork at Aldrich Mansion, in Warwick Neck, RI, as well as in select galleries in the US and England.
